Monday night's Kids Prayer was filled with prayer for the conditions in South Africa. We talked about the continued slavery in North Sudan, and the extreme drought and famine in Somolia. We viewed photos of women, children and families who were enslaved, sick, dying, and who had no home except a small thatch of sticks and trash. The images were provoking and powerful; they made us all grateful for the things we have that we just take for granted. The children who gathered prayed intently for these needs. They lifted bottles of clean and dirty water up to God asking Him to provide rain and clean water for the country and people. They lifted up handcuffs, symbolizing the slavery that had torn families apart and hurt so many, asking God to free the enslaved. Then they had a victory march, singing and praising God to African gospel songs, claiming victory for the people and land. It was truly awesome to see them so excited and participating. Many of them wanted to do something for the people there, so they are coming up with ideas of how they can help. When they do, please get behind them and support them, because that IS the work of the Kingdom.
